July 2009 - Selective backlighting of capacitive switched keys

IGT Industries and Design LED combine their areas of expertise in a partnership that brings to market an innovative combination of capacitive switching and selective backlighting, realised in flexible thin film substrates less than 1mm thick. This exciting new development, arguably one of the most important innovations ever in the human-machine interface (HMI), gives industrial designers complete freedom to incorporate multi-colour backlighting into capacitive switched operating keys to guide the user through the process. The technology can be used in both flat and curved surfaces, opening up a completely new set of opportunities for ergonomic design.
