25 years of IGT Industries Ltd.
In 1987 the founding directors of IGT Industries Ltd. Nick Giles, Vince Light and Derek Mclaughlan used their vast industry knowledge and came together to start a business in Foundry Lane, Southampton.
The business then was to manufacture Membrane Keypads and Graphic overlays for the electronics industry, all went well in the first five years and IGT grew to be one of the leading companies in the industry. Very soon the Foundry Lane site became too small and IGT had to the move to the current premises in Woodside Road, Eastleigh. The current facility is 16,000 sq feet giving IGT the building that would have room for expansion.
Over the next twenty years the Directors' have taken the business from its small beginnings in Southampton to a business supplying international companies with Control Systems around the world. Ericsson, GE, Siemens, Plexus, BAe, BA, Mettler Toledo, our product are to be found on BA aircraft business seats, The Queen Mary 2, Hospital Equipment, Trains, Airports, Missile Launch Systems, and so many different uses in the Electronics Industry.
We like to think we are a business that has gone from being a screen printing company that had an electronic section to what today is an electronics company with a print facility.
You will find sub-assemblies manufactured by IGT on the Astute Submarines and Boeing and Airbus aeroplanes. Soon our product will be on the refit of the Hunt Class Mine Sweepers.
The future goal of the company is to expand the business to be more of a global supplier in HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems. To achieve a turnover in excess of 10 million pounds, this would also mean an increase in staff number from 60 to well over 100 dedicated employees. |
